Kyoto Cooking Class

One of the best things to do in Kyoto is to learn how to cook like the locals. Why not try one of our Japanese cooking classes in our Kyoto studio? You will learn about dashi (soup stock), basic Japanese seasonings and some Japanese dishes. Also, you will know more about Kyoto and Japan through conversations with our friendly instructors.  Our Kyoto cooking school runs Morning Bento Class (9:30-13:00) and Afternoon Izakaya Class (14:00-17:30) every day.

9:30-13:00 (3.5hrs)

  1. Gomaae Sesame Salad(ごま和え)
  2. Teriyaki Chicken(照り焼きチキン)
  3. Egg Roll(だし巻たまご)
  4. Tempura(天ぷら)
  5. Sushi Roll(巻き寿司)
  6. Miso Soup(みそ汁)

Morning Bento Class is a great way to learn about typical Japanese dishes such as sushi, tempura and miso soup. In addition, you will learn the cultural background of the well-known Japanese 'Bento'. During the 2.5-3 hour class, we will demonstrate and explain the tricks to making these beautiful dishes and then you will give it a try. After you finish cooking, you will enjoy the bento lunch you just made!
*For vegetarian customers, we replace meat and fish to vegetables and other ingredients

Summer menu (July - October 2019)

  1. Chicken marinated in vinegar sauce(ごぼうとインゲンのサラダ)
  2. Burdock and green beens salad(鶏の南蛮漬け)
  3. Stir-fried Pumpkin with Miso Sauce(かぼちゃの味噌炒め)
  4. Grilled eggplant with dashi(茄子焼き浸し)
  5. Yakitori Tsukune ~Grilled chicken meat ball~(焼き鳥つくね)
  6. Somen ~Japanese fine noodles~(素麺)
  7. Matcha green tea jelly with vanilla ice cream(抹茶寒天バニラアイス)

Optional Sake tasting: 1 glass@500 yen

Afternoon Izakaya Class is a great way to immerse yourself in Japanese dining culture as well as learn authentic and popular Japanese foods that are eaten at home and in local restaurants. The course consists of two parts. First, you will cook 2~3 dishes and enjoy them. Then you will return to the kitchen and learn 2~3 more dishes before eating once more. Enjoy cooking and eating a variety of dishes in cozy atmosphere just like in Izakaya restaurants (Japanese style pubs)!
