One of the best things to do in Kyoto is to learn how to cook like the locals. Why not try one of our Japanese cooking classes in our Kyoto studio? You will learn about dashi (soup stock), basic Japanese seasonings and some Japanese dishes. Also, you will know more about Kyoto and Japan through conversations with our friendly instructors. Our Kyoto cooking school runs Morning Bento Class (9:30-12:30) and Afternoon Izakaya Class (14:00-17:00) every day.

[KYOTO] BENTO CLASS

Morning Bento Class is a great way to learn about typical Japanese dishes such as sushi, tempura and miso soup. In addition, you will learn the cultural background of the well-known Japanese 'Bento'. During the 2.5-3 hour class, we will demonstrate and explain the tricks to making these beautiful dishes and then you will give it a try. After you finish cooking, you will enjoy the bento lunch you just made!

[KYOTO] IZAKAYA CLASS
-A variety of Japanese home dishes for passionate home cooks.-
14:00-17:00 (3hrs)
- Vinegar marinated bellows cucumber(蛇腹きゅうりの酢の物)
- Grilled chicken and burdock meatball(鶏ごぼうつくね)
- Pumpkin soup with white miso and soy milk(南瓜の白味噌スープ)
- Deep-fried chicken fillet with salted plum and shiso leaf (ささ身梅しそ揚げ)

Afternoon Izakaya Class is a great way to immerse yourself in Japanese dining culture as well as learn authentic and popular Japanese foods that are eaten at home and in local restaurants. The course consists of two parts. First, you will cook 2~3 dishes and enjoy them. Then you will return to the kitchen and learn 2~3 more dishes before eating once more. Enjoy cooking and eating a variety of dishes in cozy atmosphere just like in Izakaya restaurants (Japanese style pubs)!
