This 3 days private food tour is for guests who wish to spend their time in Kyoto focusing on one theme – cooking and experiencing Japanese local food. Guests will cook and eat like local for the three days, by visiting local supermarket as well as Nishiki Market, by cooking home dishes featuring our Izakaya class menu and Nishiki Market Food Tour and Cooking Class menu, and by trying to make soba from scratch and to make Japanese sweets again from scratch.
If you have more time after completing general sightseeing in Kyoto, or if you are more interested in learning local Japanese foods and feeling the taste of local like, this is an excellent tour to choose.

Welcome dinner - cook your dinner with local cooking instructor14:00 - 18:00 Meet our English speaking cooking instructor at a local supermarket near Cooking Sun Kawaramachi Studio in the afternoon and do some shopping for dinner. We ask you what you like to cook/eat and do the shopping. After shopping, walk to our cooking studio and cook dinner together. Menu is our Izakaya class. Our instructor will help you cook and eat together, While in cooking, instructor will answer any question you may have about program and about Kyoto / Japan in general. This is private experience.
Explore Nishiki Food Market and cook your lunch with fresh ingredients from market9:30 - 13:00 Meet cooking instructor at Cooking Sun Kawaramachi Studio and walk 2 mins to Nishiki Food Market. Explore the food market and learn about its history as well as a variety of foods it has to offer. Get fresh ingredients and move to cooking studio, then cook your own donburi (rice bowl with dishes on top) lunch. Choice is Tendon - tempura donburi, Oyakodon - chicken & egg donburi, and Kaisendon - seafood donburi. This tour and cooking class is private.
Soba and Japanese sweets lesson9:30 - 12:30 Today is the last day of tour. Meet our cooking instructor at Cooking Sun Kawaramachi Studio. Today try making soba noodle from scratch and Japanese sweets (daifuku, dorayaki and matcha yokan). This is private experience. Tour ends at the studio.
