This 5 days private tour is for guests who wish to spend their vacation in one city with one core theme – Kyoto and Japanese cuisine. You will visit local supermarket as well as historic Nishiki Market. You will learn about dashi and green tea from its professional manufacturer. And you cook many local dishes with us, which include from traditional dishes such as sushi and tempura to home dishes you will not know in a general Japanese cookbook.
The tour takes place in Cooking Sun Kawaramachi Studio (shown below in the map).

Itineraries
Day 1
Welcome dinner - cook your dinner with local cooking instructor
16:00 - 19:00 Meet our English speaking cooking instructor at your hotel or another place near our studio in the late afternoon and do some shopping for dinner. We ask you what you like to cook/eat and do the shopping. After shopping, walk to our cooking studio and cook dinner together. Our instructor will help you cook and eat together, While in cooking, instructor will answer any question you may have about program and about Kyoto / Japan in general. This is private experience.Day 2
Learn about dashi and first cooking class
9:00 - 14:00 Meet our English speaking cooking instructor and go to dashi (Japanese soup stock) shop for private workshop. Learn about this key ingredient. Later move to our cooking studio and cook our izakaya class menu together with instructor. Cooking class is private lesson.Day 3
Explore Nishiki Food Market and cook your lunch with fresh ingredients from market
9:30 - 13:00 Meet cooking instructor at your hotel in the morning and move to Nishiki Food Market. Explore the food market and learn about its history as well as a variety of foods it has to offer. Get fresh ingredients and move to cooking studio, then cook your own lunch. This tour and cooking class is private.Day 4
Half day trip to Uji for tea factory tour
9:00 - 12:00 Meet our instructor and take train to Uji, famous for its high quality Japanese tea. Visit Japanese tea factory and take private tour of tea farm and factory, followed by Japanese tea ceremony. Tour disbands in Uji. Explore further in Uji or take train to Nara for your self-guided tour.Day 5
Soba and Japanese sweets lesson
9:30 - 12:30 Today is the last day of tour. Meet our cooking instructor at cooking studio. Today try making soba noodle from scratch and Japanese sweets (daifuku, dorayaki and matcha yokan). This is private experience. Tour ends at the studio.- cooking class fee
