japan

Tokyo is an incredible city that sees visitors from all over the world. It’s a mix of Japanese tradition with modern city life, and a futuristic twist. Tokyo always has something interesting going on. However, there are certain times of the year when a visit to Tokyo is amplified by fantastic weather and unique events. If you want to plan your Tokyo adventure, this is the best time to visit.

The Best Time to Visit Tokyo Disney

If Tokyo Disney is your main objective when visiting the city, there are certain times that are better than others. The second week of May is typically the best time for a visit as there aren’t as many crowds, and the weather is good. If you can’t make it during the spring, mid-November through early December can be great times as well. Some people recommend visiting in October or June. This is one of the rainiest times of year, which means that crowds are minimal and lines are short. However, you have to be OK with walking around and enjoying the rides in the rain.

The Best Time for Visiting on a Budget

If you need to visit Tokyo on a budget, the off season or shoulder season is the best time. The weather may not be ideal, but there will be less tourists, which drive down the prices of hotels and tours. Mid-May through mid-June is typically the shoulder season. There’s a slight lull in tourism and you may be able to find discounted accommodation. However, January through March is considered the low season. The weather is colder and the tourist crowds tend to taper off. Tokyo doesn’t get much snow, so as long as you have warm clothes, it should be pretty comfortable to explore. Plus, Tokyo has plenty of cafes and indoor activities that will keep you warm.

The Best Time for Weather and Activities

The end of March, April, October, and November are the best months to visit Tokyo. The cherry blossoms are in bloom late March until midway through April, turning most of Tokyo into a magical scene. Springtime in Tokyo also has some of the best weather. The sun is usually shining and the rainfall is infrequent. November is a great time to visit because the weather is slightly chilly but not uncomfortably cold. With mild temperatures, clear skies, and little rainfall, visitors tend to enjoy the fall weather. Plus, the changing leaves and fall foliage make Tokyo a very pretty place to be. The great weather during these months make sightseeing ideal too. Outdoor attractions will be thriving and pleasant to visit. And, there are often festivals or events that can make your trip more interesting.

The Best Time for Shopping

Love shopping? Tokyo is a fantastic city to get in a little retail therapy. Each year, Tokyo puts on massive clearance sales during the summer and winter. Visit towards the end of the year and you’ll find plenty of autumn and winter items at deep discounts. The third week in July is also a prime time for shopping. This is when the city has their end of summer sales. You can find discounts ranging from 30 to 50 percent all over the city. These sales are more like festivals and can’t be missed while you’re visiting Tokyo.

If you’re visiting Tokyo, make sure you have an idea of what you want to do. Each part of the year offers something different, so you’ll want to know what you’re looking for.
